
RIEEA is excited to announce a featured presenter for our upcoming Rhode Island Youth Climate Conference is Kait Birghenthal, MPS. Kait is a passionate marine conservationist, climate change educator, and community leader dedicated to protecting the planet and its diverse ecosystems. A Miami native, she earned both her Bachelor’s in Marine Affairs and her Master of Professional Science in Marine Conservation from the University of Miami. There, she co-created ‘Ocean Kids’, an annual event that brought students from underrepresented Miami communities to campus for hands-on marine science and conservation action learning.
In her career, Kait has worked with the New England Aquarium, SeaWorld Orlando, and the National Marine Fisheries Service. Currently, she is the President of the National Network for Ocean and Climate Change Interpretation (NNOCCI), based at The Marine Mammal Center, the world’s largest marine mammal hospital.
She lives in Boston with her husband and their rescue dog, Maui, and co-hosts ‘Let’s Sea’, a podcast on marine science and conservation. In her free time, Kait enjoys tide pooling, traveling, concerts, and time to be silly with loved ones.
