On Thursday, May 7, youth from School One, The Greene School, and Groundwork Rhode Island came together to share the projects they’ve been developing since the Rhode Island Youth Climate Conference last November. Shoutout to the students from Mt. Hope High School who were unable to join us, but were able to share a video describing their project.
Teams shared what they’ve learned and the challenges they’ve faced while working with their communities to address climate change. The presentations and conversations created space for collaboration, feedback, and new ideas. It was inspirational to see students supporting one another’s work.
We ended the night with a walk around the zoo after the park had closed — a pretty perfect way to celebrate everyone’s hard work!
Thank you to everyone who participated, Chris Gaynor from Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (our keynote from last year’s conference) for joining us, Andrea Stein and Meg Archer at Roger Williams Park Zoo for hosting and facilitating, and Jaivon Semeda for helping take photos. We’re excited to see where these projects go next and look forward to this year’s RI Youth Climate Conference in the fall!
