PRAWC is quasi-public agency created by the Rhode Island state legislature in 1972 whose mission is to improve and protect the Pawtuxet River and its watershed. PRAWC provides recreational places on the Pawtuxet River for public enjoyment, performs restoration projects, and conducts river cleanups and events in order to improve the quality of life in Rhode Island and render the river’s 231 square mile watershed system fishable and swimmable. The PRAWC is a regional agency whose board of directors is made up of appointed representatives from each of the communities of Coventry, Cranston, Scituate, Warwick, and West Warwick.
