🌟 Member Spotlight: The Compass School 🌟
Summer farm camp & internships available! Based in Kingston, The Compass School Farm program offers students, campers, volunteers, and interns the opportunity to gain agricultural skills training, including tool use, vegetable production, plant propagation and basic ecology.Â
Participants will assist in cultivating the Farm’s 4,900 square feet of 35 different species of crops including edible flowers, green beans, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, sunflower seeds, parsley, chard, kale, arugula, squash, pumpkin, rutabaga, potato, sweet potato, Jerusalem artichoke, onion, and garlic. Students learn nutrition and prepare harvest meals as well as assist with concurrent summer camp activities.Â
Through training and networking, The Compass School Farm program develops youth leaders of environmental sustainability who share farming knowledge and skills by replicating efforts in their home settings and in the greater community.Â
The Compass School Agriculture Education program is NOT only for enrolled students! All community members are welcome to participate in the summer program!Â
Summer is a time when we build community around sustainable agriculture through care of our crops and livestock, shared experiences exploring, planting, and harvesting in our garden. Join them for summer camps or summer farm internship!
