Art for Eco-Literacy and Activism
presented by SouthCoast Wind

Our 2024 Summit: Art for Eco-Literacy and Activism, presented by SouthCoast Wind, took place on the morning of Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Rhode Island College Donovan Dining Center.

Our keynote speaker was May Babcock, an interdisciplinary ecocentric artist who transforms sediment, seaweed, and excess plants into handmade paper, revealing the complexities of various waterways in New England. She has exhibited nationally and internationally at places such as the RISD Museum of Art, New Bedford Whaling Museum, National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute, and others. You can learn more about May and her work here.

After her keynote, May led summit-goers in a hands-on community art activity, the “Pulp Cast Leaf Project,” devised for all-ages environmental learning! The morning also included a hot breakfast, a raffle, and small group discussions.

Thank you to all who attended!
