December 11 2025 virtual lunch & learn walking softer

Join us on Thursday, December 11, at 12:00pm for a Virtual Lunch & Learn: Walking Softer Education. Our featured speakers will be Jackson Ray and Andrea Garcia, who will talk about the free programs, project funding, and educator stipends available through Walking Softer for US high school classes, clubs, or out-of-school-time education providers.

Walking Softer provides ready-made NGSS-aligned learning activities about specific environmental issues and solutions, and up to $2,000 in project funding to empower youth to design and implement community-based environmental projects. Educators who take groups through the learning activities and facilitate a community project will receive a stipend of $1,000, and participating juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for the Walking Softer Education Scholarship to support further education.

Jackson Ray and Andrea Garcia from Walking Softer are going to provide an overview of the program, the benefits of joining, and walk through the signup process and requirements. They will also ask participants on the call to consider environmental projects they and their students might be able to tackle, as well as highlight some previous student projects.

Please note our Virtual Lunch & Learns alternate between open/office hours and more traditional educational programming. The 2025 Virtual Lunch & Learn season is generously sponsored by VHB, Inc.
