COA’s mission is to inspire and educate the community to take action through environmentally responsible behaviors and its vision is a clean, healthy ocean that is accessible to all. COA provides experiential environmental education across Newport County year-round. Since 2013, COA has worked with Aquidneck Island public and private schools, after-school programs, and summer camps to help foster a strong sense of environmental stewardship within the next generation. By integrating community science work into its environmental education programs, COA provides students with the opportunity to get an inside look into how a non-profit organization functions, while developing a better understanding of their own coastal environment.
